Most Florida counties share their administrative machinery with neighbors. Broward does not.
Under the Medicaid restructure that took effect in February 2025, Broward County became Region H on its own. Its neighbors are grouped: Palm Beach sits in Region G with four Treasure Coast counties, and Miami-Dade shares Region I with Monroe.

Two Level I trauma centers, two hospital systems
Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale is a Level I trauma center for adults and children. Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood is the other, and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, on the Memorial Regional campus, holds the Level I pediatric trauma designation for south Broward.
Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach adds a Level II adult trauma center in the north of the county. Holy Cross Health, Cleveland Clinic Weston, Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines and several others fill in between.
